Crypto Capital Gains Tax

Gains across every wallet and exchange calculated and filed correctly: 33% CGT above the €1,270 exemption.

Selling, swapping or spending crypto is a disposal for Irish CGT, taxed at 33% on the gain above the €1,270 annual exemption. We pull together every wallet and exchange, calculate the gains properly and file through ROS, so the number is right and defensible.

What you should know

Ireland taxes crypto under the ordinary CGT rules, which is what trips people up. A disposal is not just cashing out to euro: swapping one token for another, or spending crypto, is a disposal too, taxable at 33% on the gain above the €1,270 annual exemption. Every wallet and exchange has to be brought together, with the right acquisition cost against each disposal, to get the figure right.

The deadlines are their own trap: CGT on gains in the first eleven months of the year is due in December, with the return itself the following year. We calculate the gains across your full activity, apply the exemption and any losses, file through ROS and keep you to the payment dates, so the position is clean before Revenue ever asks.
